The roots of Calvary Chapel can be found in Costa Mesa, California. A non-denominational Christian church, Calvary Chapel was founded by Pastor Chuck Smith in 1965. It has been estimated that over 8,000 baptisms were performed in a two year period at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa in the mid 70’s. During that same period, Pastor Chuck Smith and his church were instrumental in bringing 20,000 conversions to the Christian faith. Chuck Smith has come to be known as a leading figure in what is today called “The Jesus Movement.” Miles away from Costa Mesa, Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia was born in November, 1981. Pastor Joe Focht started a Bible study with 20 people. God has abundantly blessed the teaching of His Word as this small Bible study group multiplied into hundreds, and then into thousands.
It was out of Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia that our Pastor, Dave Cummings, was called to the ministry. And after having served on staff at Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia for over ten years, he was led to start Calvary Chapel of Quakertown.
Calvary Chapel of Quakertown officially began meeting together as a Bible study in the home of a local family on August 2, 2006. January 7, 2007 marked the beginning of Sunday morning services, which were held in “The Barn” on Green Top Road.
It wasn’t until April of 2008 that Calvary Chapel of Quakertown moved to our present location on New Street, gathering for Sunday morning and evening services.
The church continued to experience growth in attendance, which brought the addition of multiple home fellowships and prayer meetings. And on January 2, 2011, a second Sunday morning service was added to the regularly scheduled Sunday evening service.
Desiring to hold true to the Word of God, we study verse-by-verse through the Bible at our services. All services at CCQ are in-depth surveys of the text.
Presently, we have three worship services throughout the week where we gather to worship through prayer, song, and the study of God’s Word:
Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM & 11:00 AM
Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM
We also have a Prayer Fellowship meeting on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM.
